Description
I grew up in Russia, under the shadow of Soviet rule. In those years, Jews had a saying: whether or not you believe in a brighter future, “you still have to go.” By that, of course, we meant aliyah; the journey home.
There are endless debates about the story of the sea: did the waters truly part for our people and close again upon Pharaoh’s army, or is it only a beautiful myth preserved in the Tanakh?
For me, I choose to believe. Whether it is history or legend matters less than the truth it carries. It tells us that G-d’s presence moves through our lives, sometimes as tangible as stone, other times like a mirage. Either way, it is there. Guiding, sustaining, and reminding us that faith is stronger than fear.
