Description
They say one can come to Judaism, among other ways, through an admiration for the beauty of the world, through the realization that such a world could not have come into being by chance.
For me, growing up surrounded by endless forests and greenery in Russia, nature felt ordinary, familiar, ever-present. But when I made aliyah and found myself in the land of Israel, in a landscape so different, so alive in its own way, it struck me deeply.
When we grow accustomed to what surrounds us, its beauty can fade from view. But with a fresh gaze, the forests, hills, and skies of Eretz Israel amaze. In those moments, I feel, with all my heart, the hand of the Almighty in every tree, every stone, every light that touches the land.
